III. International Marj Dabiq Congress Concludes
The III. International Marj Dabiq Congress, hosted by our University and organized in cooperation with Kilis 7 Aralık University and the University of Health Sciences, with the support of the Governorship of Kilis and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, has concluded successfully.
Held under the theme “The Long Shadow of a War: Collective Memory and Cultural Heritage,” the congress featured a series of academic sessions at the Abdullah Enveri Library and Congress Center.
During the sessions, attended by academics from various universities and disciplines, participants examined the historical background of the Battle of Marj Dabiq, its geopolitical impacts, its reflections on collective memory, and the processes of cultural and spatial transformation in the Middle East.
The congress also addressed the geographical characteristics of the Marj Dabiq Plain and its surroundings, the military routes of the Ottoman army, the historiography of the battle, and its influence on language and literature from multiple perspectives.
During the evaluation session held at the conclusion of the program, participants exchanged views on the contributions of the presented papers to future academic studies and discussed opportunities for scientific cooperation and collaborative research in the coming years.
