"15 July Mixed Exhibition" Opened at Our University

The "15 July Mixed Exhibition," prepared by our University as part of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day events, has been presented to visitors at the Rectorate Conference Hall Foyer Area.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Kilis Governor Ömer Kalaylı, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin, 11th Border Brigade Commander Brigadier General Ersin Özbalcı, our Rector Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Akman, provincial protocol, our academic and administrative staff, our students, and numerous guests.

Comprising paintings, photographs, and handicrafts prepared by our university's faculty members and students, the exhibition conveyed our nation's struggle for democracy, love for the homeland, and heroic spirit on the night of July 15 to the visitors through the language of art. The works featured in the exhibition reflected the place of July 15 in the collective memory and the spirit of national unity from different perspectives.

Touring the exhibition along with the protocol members, our Rector Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Akman stated that July 15 is a historical turning point where our nation protected democracy, independence, and the national will. Indicating that art is an important tool in keeping collective memory alive and transferring historical events to future generations, our Rector Akman expressed that such events provide valuable contributions particularly to young people in gaining national awareness and historical consciousness.
