A project led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bekir Bülent Arpacı, faculty member of our University’s Faculty of Agriculture, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support Module.
Titled “Development of RT-LAMP (Reverse Transcription Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification) Primers for the Rapid Detection of Certain Garlic Viral Complex Viruses Causing Disease in Garlic (Allium sativum L.),” the project aims to develop methods for the rapid detection of selected viruses that cause disease in garlic.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamil Sarpkaya of Karabük University Faculty of Forestry and Dr. İbrahim Sönmez of the Atatürk Central Horticultural Research Institute will take part in the project as researchers, while one scholarship student will also contribute to the studies.
Bringing together scientific expertise from different institutions, the project is expected to contribute to research on the rapid diagnosis of plant diseases and to pave the way for new scientific outputs in this field.
