“Melodies in Our Hearts” Turkish Folk Music Concert Held at Our University"
The “Melodies in Our Hearts” Turkish Folk Music Concert, organized by the Turkish Music Research and Practice Community of our University, was held in Hall No. 1 of the Abdullah Enveri Library and Congress Center. The event was attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Akman, and his wife Mrs. Hülya Akman, as well as members of our academic and administrative staff and music enthusiasts.
The concert was artistically directed by Lecturer Zeyneb Türkoğlu and conducted by Lecturer Mustafa Çeken. Students and community members who took the stage performed a selection of pieces from the concert repertoire for the audience.
In his remarks at the end of the concert, Rector Akman stated that universities are important institutions that contribute to students’ development not only through scientific activities but also through cultural and artistic programs. Emphasizing that Turkish folk music is an important carrier of cultural memory, Rector Akman noted that the concert was valuable in terms of preserving and passing on the traditional musical heritage to younger generations.
Rector Akman also thanked the academics and students who contributed to the organization of the program and stated that cultural and artistic activities at our University will continue in the future.
