Rector Akman Attended the Opening Ceremony of Ulu Mosque and the Mosque and Tomb of Shurahbil bin Hasana
Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Akman, attended the opening ceremony of the Ulu Mosque and the Mosque and Tomb of Shurahbil bin Hasana, whose restoration works, carried out by the General Directorate of Foundations following the damage they sustained during the February 6 earthquakes, have been successfully completed. The ceremony, held at the Ulu Mosque, was also attended by Kilis Governor Ömer Kalaylı, Kilis Member of Parliament Ahmet Salih Dal, members of the provincial protocol, representatives of public institutions and organizations, and numerous citizens.
During the program organized on the occasion of the reopening of the Ulu Mosque and the Mosque and Tomb of Shurahbil bin Hasana—both regarded as significant landmarks of Kilis’s historical and spiritual heritage—the importance of these restored structures within the city’s cultural memory was highlighted, and information was provided regarding the restoration process and the works carried out.
The program concluded following the recitation of prayers and the performance of the Friday prayer.
